October 4, 2015 (in case you read this much later...)

Hello cousins! I'm checking in with links to photos by two friends from the only important thing that happened to me this summer: a wedding. (I guess this event was also important to my daughter Hannah, her new husband, Lee, my old husband, Mark, and our two other kids, Lucas and Chase, who both thought Hannah and Lee were crazy to marry so young (26). But, fortunately, they think Lee is great. And Mark and I are solidly in that camp, too.

Try to find the Zinsser descendants among the tattooed and funky kids enjoying the day at our place in Phippsburg, Maine!

So, I think this entry validates Harry's idea of passing on Zinsser news -- shamelessly using the younger generation as a portal.

This is Chase in Geneva Skyping with moi. Looks like Geneva to me anyway. And that's me in the corner (losing my religion...)

adios, Cornelia, aka Zinsser 55

Maine Trip in August

Harry

I recently tacked a one-week vacation ahead of Aline's one-week stint at the Maine Media Workshops in Camden, ME. I had been wanting to go back to Maine for years; the last time I was there was in the 60's, with my parents and brothers and sisters, when we made the trek from Vermont in the family station wagon.

We flew to Boston and stayed overnight with Susie and Jim in Cambridge, then drove up to Portland, where we stayed with Cornelia and Mark for two nights. Cornelia invited Joyce over for dinner, which was nice, since I hadn't seen her for a long time. Here is Cornelia and Mark's wonderful and wonderfully energy-efficient house:

From Portland we drove up 95 to Brunswick, where we took a quick spin around Bowdoin, which I had never seen, then continued on Route 1 to Rockland, where we visited the Farnsworth Art Museum. Both Aline and I were wowed by the exhibit on Andrew Wyeth watercolor sketches there, among other things.

We stayed overnight in Rockland, heading out the next day for Hancock, where we had a lovely lunch with Ted and Candace, Liza and her husband and new baby, plus in-laws. It was good to catch up with Ted, albeit briefly, since I had only seen him a few times over the past decades, mostly at somber events in NYC. This is the view at the end of their lawn, looking out on Frenchman Bay:

After lunch we headed to Southeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island, where we were staying with friends from LA. The wife (Beth Rendeiro) is descended from Charles Eliot, he of Harvard, and is trustee of their "Big House" there:

All in all, our Maine trip was wonderful, and we both can't wait to return there soon!
